New Hair

Well I decided that it was time for a change of hair. I had dyed it about 2 or 3 weeks ago...a deep red..best seen in the top picture!

Then yesterday I was sick of always wearing my hair up...but with as long as it was (which wasn't very long)...I couldn't wear it down because it bothered me...so I decided to get it cut. I think it's a little to short for my taste...but it's ok cuz it will grow out!

I got the cutest present from my sister. It's a picture frame that says *Friends* on it...and the top picture is of Sabrina, Bryan, and Sean...and then the bottom holds 2 pictures...one of Joshua and one of Robin with antlers. I love it so much! Thank you Meggers!!

I haven't really started working fully in the back yet with Mary. They still haven't quite figured out who is going to sit up front. But once they do Mary would like me back there full time...but I will probably still be working the front desk for a few hours a day. But who knows!

Well that's all i can really think to post about! Love you guys!

I'll post more when I have stuff to post about!!!

Christmas

My christmas was alright for the most part! I came home Christmas morning (me and Mike) and we opened gifts and had a wonderful breakfast at my house and then Mike went back to his house and spent the rest of the day with his family and I stuck around my house. Aunt Adrienne cooked a ham and french fries (cuz that's the Van Houten way) for dinner, but well I don't care to much for ham so I passed on that...but passing on the chocholate pie...now who would do such a thing?!?! Thank you Aunt Erika, Uncle Lyle, and Jackson for the gift card! Thank you grandma for the money! Thank you aunt Kathy for the cell phone holder...it is very convient...I love it! Thank you Aunt Adrienne and family (you know who they are lol) for the beautiful beautiful skirt and Bubble bath (white chocholate how cool is that lol)!!! Thank you Taj for the gift certificate to Black Angus!

And thank you mom and dad for the....Charmed seasons 1,2, 3. Also the candles, the stuffed animal, the fudge, the candle warmer, and all the little goodies you got me!

All in all I loved everything I got!

New Year's is coming up quickly on me.

I have decided on my new year's resolution and hope to stick to it this year! I have been doing well at losing weight but I haven't been very good at the real exercise part so I have lost the weight but am still very full of fat lol. So I am going to join the YMCA and start working out and such to tone my body a little better. I really have no set weight or goal to accomplish...I guess my only goal is to actually do it...without slacking off! Lucia has decided to join with me as well. So at least I won't be doing it alone!

Mike and his friends are planning a trip up to Big Bear (a ski resort). I am very excited about this because I have yet to see snow in almost 2 years now and it's bringing me down.

Well that's all I can think about to post! Oh wait...I have recently gotten a new cell phone number due to the fact that lately I have been getting calls (note not just 1 call but anywhere from 10-20 calls) late late at night (i'm talking from 12 a.m.-5 a.m.). They all come up private so I have no idea who is doing it...so I just decided to change my number. I'm not sure if I have everyone on my e-mail address list so if you would like my new cell phone number just e-mail me at
melodybeth2000@gmail.com and I will happily send it to you....if you are lucky and I love you. But chances are if you are reading this...I do love you!!!

Well that's all! Love you all and thanks again for all the lovely gifts this
Christmas!

Capital Punishment

I remember doing a report/presentation for my communications class in 10th grade on Capital Punishment. I haven't really thought about it since my report (considering the only reason i thought about it was cuz it was my homework!) but recently Tookie Williams was executed (by legal injection) and for some reason I can not stop thinking about it. I even went as far as trying to find my old communications teacher (or at least an e-mail) address to see if she still have my paper (to be honest so I didn't have to look up the info and statistics again) but turns out she no longer works at the high school so I do not know how to contact her. Now I haven't done much research so far on the subject but I do intent to look up information, cuz as of now I do not believe that capital punishment is right.

I guess the one thing that I do remember reading and talking about in class is "Leopold and Loeb". Leopold and Loeb were 19 years old in the year when they commited "the crime of the century". In the year 1924 they kidnapped and murdered a 14 year old boy. They did this just for the simple fact that they wanted to know what it was like. However they were both lucky enough to get life imprisonment instead of the death penalty. Together there accomplishments include working at hospitals, teaching illiterates to read, creating a correspondence school, making significant developments in the World War II Malaria Project, and writing a grammar book. Look at what they have done to society. I'm not saying that by doing these things they have paid back society for what they did that little boy, and I'm not saying that our world is a better place because of what they have did, but they did get a sliver of a chance to pay back something.

What are we accomplishing by sentencing someone with the death penalty? What is our point as society, as a nation? I see it as trying to prove to society that committing crimes is wrong. Looking at certain statistic the majority of crimes that result in the death penalty are murders. I also saw other ones...Espionage, Treason, and Trafficking in a large about of illegal drugs.

I don't understand the point in killing a person to prove to society that committing a murder is wrong. It does not make sense to me what so ever.

Sorry I had to vent and get that out and it's a little to serious for a myspace blog so I thought I would post it here!

Nothing

Well nothing really all that new and exciting to blog about here!

Work is boring as usual. But as of January 1st I am only going to be on the front desk from 2-5 Tuesday-Thursday and we haven't figured out what is going to happen on Monday and Friday. But I need to be in the back working with Mary more so that when she retires I will be able to take over some of the things that she is doing!

Um...my new (but old) e-mail address is
melodybeth2000@gmail.com for those who didn't read it in my blog like 3 months ago *wink wink*

Lucia and me have my hanging out like crazy. But it's not gonna happen as much anymore cuz she just got a new job as a receptionist at some doctor's office. And it's in Glendale but her hours are like 7-3 or something so she has to get up really early and such.

But that's about it! I re-did my whole page thingy...tell me what you guys think!
